China Unicom’s Quantum Encryption Project Receives WSIS Price for Information Security
(Future.IOT) China Unicom and Hengtong Optoelectronics were recently recognized by the World Summit on Information Society for their technology’s potential to protect the information security of citizens.The two companies have signed a strategic cooperation agreement on quantum encryption communication research in 2017 and have since launched a number of innovative quantum security service experiments. The project covers the main line area from Beijing to Xiong’an and uses the FM phase-encoding quantum key distribution device (QKD) with independent intellectual property rights to construct a data encryption anti-leakage and anti-tamper system based on the quantum-encrypted communication trunk.
Zhu Changbo, vice president of China Unicom Network Technology Research Institute and dean of China Unicom Smart City Research Institute, received the trophy and certificate from International Telecommunications Union (ITU) Secretary-General Zhao Houlin.
