European Quantum Future Academy Application Deadline Approaching July 15
(QuantumFutureAcademy) The Quantum Future Academy 2020, being held with the motto ‘Today’s insights for tomorrow’s experts’, is aimed at supporting the formation of a sustainable network of young European researchers in the future field of quantum technologies. It is a BMBF initiative held in cooperation with the European Quantum Flagship and supported by numerous institutions in the participating countries, which are independently organising the selection process for the academy in their respective country.
The third event of Quantum Future Academy 2020 goes pan-European. Therefore students from 30 countries are welcome to apply for the one-week-academy in Berlin.
The Event will take place from 1st – 7th November 2020 in Berlin and includes:
- free meal and housing
- exclusive insights into the current state of research
- exclusive insights into quantum companies and institutes
- workshops
- networking opportunities
Goals
• Promoting young European talents in quantum technologies (QT)
• Further establishing a strong Quantum Community in Europe
• Bringing together students from natural sciences and engineering sciences
• Providing knowledge and insights in QT from basic science to technical application
• Strengthening networks of students, science, industry and start-ups
• Showing QT-related career perspectives, boosting individual career options
• Having a great time together
Two students per country will be invited to the final event in Berlin at the beginning of November 2020.
Who can apply?
Students in the 3rd year of single-honors B.Sc., 3rd and 4th year of double-honors B.Sc., or enrolled in a M.Sc. with a Physics Curriculum containing Quantum Mechanics are eligible to take part in the selection process.
What do you need to do?
Applicants will be ranked according to the following criteria:
a) Motivation letter and Curriculum Vitae (20%)
The maximum length of the motivation letter to be submitted is 2000 characters, including space. The maximum length of the CV is one A4 page.
b) Average mark of applicant’s university course (40%)
Example: an applicant has a total of P points obtained summing the marks of n exams made. The attributed score will be P/n.
c.) Test (20%)
The test will consist of a 2h written examination with both multiple answer questions and exercises about Quantum Mechanics.
d) Interview (20%)
The applicant has to submit a presentation, of the maximum duration of 15 minutes, on a topic of Quantum Mechanics chosen by the candidate which will be discussed publicly in front of the Selection Committee.
