(BloombergPodcast) Bloomberg news recently interviewed Lawrence Gasman, Founder & President of Inside Quantum Technology. Gasman first discussed quantum technology today and explained it derived from quantum information theory. He explained the three sectors: 1) quantum computers; 2) encryption; and 3) quantum sensors.
Gasman explained that the emerging quantum technologies are now ” . producing new markets and just beginning to get going.” He projected a “sea change” with future winners evolving in the upcoming cycles. Gasman commented on the “. . stunning number of startups already funded by VCs, that the field is just starting to ‘get going’.”
The interview was conducted with a look forward to next week’s “The Future of Quantum Computing, Quantum Cryptography, and Quantum Sensors” event to be held in Boston March 19-21 at the Hynes Convention Center. The speaker lineup includes IBM, Microsoft, and D-Wave. The full program lists 31 current speakers. Focus is on commercialization of these new technologies. Click here to see event site and register.
Gasman predicted in his interview that while we will not see quantum computers on our desktops; instead our future lives will be affected by quantum tech’s beneficial effects on transportation and planning, or new materials and drug design made feasible with quantum speed.
