As the quantum industry continues to mature, many companies are maturing and changing alongside it. One of these is ColdQuanta. In an announcement earlier today, the company has created its new umbrella brand, Infleqtion. Under Infleqtion, ColdQuanta will now be the dedicated research branch of the company. The umbrella brand gives the company flexibility when it comes to acquiring other products (such as their recent purchase of SuperTech products), as well as a chance to grow and expand into other endeavors. According to Sarah Schupp, the Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Infleqtion, the umbrella brand gives a new face for commercial partners, as well as a goal for where the company hopes to be in the future. Infleqtion connects research with sales, commercial development, acquisitions and outreach in a seamless way. With locations across the world, a unified brand adds better connectivity and a heightened sense of community within the company. “We believe that the quantum industry is at a turning point as it needs to move beyond research and focus on bringing practical, quantum-enabled solutions to the world,” explained Infleqtion CEO Scott Faris. “Substantial technological, financial, and geopolitical drivers are changing the quantum landscape. Today, we’re thrilled to launch Infleqtion, a company focused on helping customers benefit from over 15 years of quantum research and an ecosystem of quantum technologies and commercial products.”
The name “Infleqtion” comes from the idea of an inflection point. “An inflection point is a time of significant change when the rate of progress or focus changes direction,” explained Bob Sutor, Infleqtion’s Vice President and Chief Quantum Advocate at the 2022 Quantum World Congress. As Sutor and the rest of the team are preparing for the future of deployable quantum technology, they believe Infleqtion is the key to getting there. With over 15 years of previous research in quantum technology, Infleqtion is creating waves in how a quantum company advances toward the future. Faris added that “Major forces are driving the need for leap-forward technological solutions. Quantum’s time is now and will require bold leadership to bring together the people, capital, and ideas to drive the largest technological leap in human history.”
The company will continue to announce more exciting new additions to its sub-brands at the 2022 Q2B conference, as well as its future goals for making quantum computing more deployable and accessible to all. It has already become a cornerstone to the quantum community with “its scalable and versatile quantum technology [being] used by world-class organizations around the globe and deployed by NASA on the International Space Station,” as the Infleqtion announcement explained. “Infleqtion is based in Boulder, CO, with offices in Chicago, IL; Madison, WI; Melbourne, AU and Oxford, UK.” With an eye on the technology of tomorrow, Infleqtion hopes to lead the charge on what the future of quantum computing will look like and the steps taken to get there.
