D-Wave teams with Davidson Technologies to target aerospace and defense
Aerospace and defense continues to be viewed as a market for early adoption of quantum computing technologies, and D-Wave Quantum, as a newly public company, is looking to make the most of any early opportunities it can find. A new reseller arrangement with Davidson Technologies, Inc., a technology services company that provides innovative engineering, technical and management solutions for the U.S. Department of Defense, aerospace and commercial customers, could help D-Wave accomplish that aim.
The multi-year agreement, which D-Wave will be highlighted at its Qubits annual user conference later this month, calls for Davidson to resell D-Wave’s products and services, including the Leap quantum cloud service, into the aerospace and defense sector. In addition, the companies are working together on an initiative to support classified hybrid quantum-classical applications, an important requirement for national defense programs, a D-Wave statement said
The collaboration comes as the U.S. federal government, like many governments around the world, is taking more concrete steps to embrace and invest in quantum technologies. That has created more urgency for quantum technology companies to align with aerospace and defense market specialists. For example, PQShield last year teamed with Collins Aerospace, and there have been many other similar partnerships.
By collaborating on joint go-to-market efforts, Davidson plans to expand its advanced, intelligent technology solutions with D-Wave’s cloud-based quantum computing and quantum hybrid solver services in support of U.S. defense and aerospace efforts, the companies said, adding that quantum-hybrid applications can support a variety of mission objectives, including supply chain optimization, logistics management, weapon system optimization, and vehicle routing, to name a few.
