(Forbes) In a wide-ranging interview with Fortune, Equifax’s CTO Bryson Koehler discussed his role and that of new technologies. Koehler joined Equifax in mid2-2018 after having been CTO of IBM Watson and IBM Cloud where he earned a reputation as both an artificial intelligence and cloud expert.
Koehler referenced the Equifax data breach that exposed the sensitive personal information of nearly 150 million Americans in 2017. He pointed out that Equifax has challenged itself to take this opportunity to double down on being an industry and technology leader in security. My team has made the right moves, and we have been maniacally focused on rebuilding the trust, which we know starts with being the world’s most secure place for data.
Koehler spoke about quantum computing and what has to change with current encryption technologies moving forward. He believes we are in the early days of understanding how the world is going to adapt to the need for more defined and differentiated encryption standards. Equifax is going to become a leader in thinking about data encryption, data tokenization, and how the world will look when quantum computing makes its appearance on the main stage.
