Himadri Majumdar, CEO and co-founder of SemiQon, a spin-off from VTT in Finland, will speak at IQT Vancouver/Pacific Rim in early June 2024. Majumdar’s extensive experience in the quantum technology domain and his leadership in developing silicon-based quantum processors positions him as a key speaker, particularly for attendees interested in the future of quantum computing hardware.
SemiQon is at the forefront of building quantum processors for the million-qubit era, an ambitious goal that underscores the company’s commitment to advancing quantum computing technology. Operating out of the Otanano/Micronova pilot microelectronics fabrication center in Espoo, Finland, SemiQon leverages cutting-edge facilities and expertise to develop its quantum processors, which are crucial for the next generation of quantum computing.
Before founding SemiQon, Majumdar was the Program Manager for Quantum Technologies at VTT, Finland’s leading research institute. In this role, he played a pivotal part in assisting companies, particularly fabless startups, in leveraging VTT’s R&D expertise and infrastructure in quantum technologies. This experience gave him valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities in commercializing quantum technology.
Majumdar was also a founding member of the Finnish Quantum technologies ecosystem, InstituteQ, and led its business arm, BusinessQ. His ambition to see Quantum technology become a Finnish and European success story reflects his broader vision of strengthening the European quantum ecosystem through cooperation across various initiatives.
With 20 years of experience in innovation and innovation management and training as an experimental physicist, Majumdar brings a unique blend of technical expertise and business acumen to the field of quantum technology, which he successfully leverages at SemiQon.
