This year’s IQT Nordics Conference will host Professor Peter Krogstrup, a prominent figure in the field of quantum computing and a full professor in Physics at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, Denmark. As the executive director of the Novo Nordisk Foundation (NNF) Quantum Computing program, Professor Krogstrup brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the event, particularly in developing quantum processors and fabrication methods for quantum computing devices.

Professor Krogstrup’s significant contributions to quantum technology began at the Niels Bohr Institute, and his expertise was further honed during his six-year tenure at Microsoft. At Microsoft’s Development Center in Lyngby, Copenhagen, he established a successful quantum material laboratory, where he innovated and drove the development of novel in-situ fabrication methods for quantum computing devices using ultra-high vacuum tools. His work in this area has been critical in advancing the field, particularly in the realm of material science for quantum computing.

In his current role, Professor Krogstrup heads two closely connected organizations within the NNF Quantum Computing program: the university-based NQCP, headquartered at the Niels Bohr Institute, and the NNF-owned partner company ‘Quantum Foundry P/S.’ Quantum Foundry P/S focuses on developing manufacturing capabilities for quantum processors, a crucial aspect in the scaling and practical application of quantum computing technology.

His affiliation with Microsoft as an advisor continues, reflecting his ongoing involvement and influence in the quantum computing industry. Professor Krogstrup’s focus on workforce development, innovation, and general quantum technology development highlights his commitment to advancing the scientific aspects of quantum computing and fostering the necessary skills and knowledge base in the emerging quantum workforce.

At the IQT Nordics conference, Professor Krogstrup is expected to share insights into the latest developments in quantum processor manufacturing, novel fabrication methods for quantum devices, and strategies for fostering innovation in the quantum technology sector. Given his extensive background in academic research and industry application, his perspective will likely provide a comprehensive overview of the current state and potential future directions of quantum technology.
