Quantum annealing and gate-based systems? D-Wave thinks there is room for both
During D-Wave Quantum’s recent fourth quarter 2023 earnings call, CEO Dr. Alan Baratz claimed his company holds “a first-mover advantage that no other company in the world can claim.” Indeed, in an era of firms rushing NISQ machines to market, D-Wave has been just about the only company pushing quantum annealing, and with some success. But, D-Wave is still quietly pursuing development of a gate-based quantum computer, too, and believes annealing and gate systems can co-exist.
