Sample holders and similar packaging solutions intended to contain quantum processors are among the unsung heroes of quantum computing, extremely important components that are not often talked about. This week, Quantum Machines claimed an advancement in that arena with the unveiling of the QBoard-II, a modular, PCB-based sample holder system for low-temperature spin-qubit chips, general transport experiments, and superconducting circuits.

The new product improves upon the performance and usability of the company’s original QBoard, as it features more compact dimensions, new PCB, interposer, and daughterboard designs, and the addition of a shielding lid. Also, it includes a versatile set of mounting brackets ensuring full compatibility with popular dilution refrigerators, all of these aspects adding up to a container system that will help accelerate and enhance quantum computer development and experiments, Quantum Machines said.

The company added that customers can easily transition from QBoard-I with unchanged connector configurations.

Further details on the key features of QBoard-II:

“QBoard-II is designed to make quantum researchers’ lives easier. It simplifies complex setups, saves valuable research hours, and enables them to concentrate on what truly matters – advancing science,” said Itamar Sivan, CEO and co-founder of Quantum Machines. The new product will be on display at SiQEW 2023, October 31 – November 2 in Kyoto, Japan.

This news comes after Quantum Machines in September launched the latest version of its quantum control solution, the OPX1000.
