News Briefs:

Riverlane partners with Atlantic Quantum to advance quantum error correction on fluxonium architecture

Riverlane, a global leader in quantum error correction technology, and Atlantic Quantum, a leading developer of scalable, fault-tolerant quantum computers, today announced a strategic partnership to work together on quantum error correction. The partnership will combine Riverlane’s quantum error correction (QEC) stack (‘Deltaflow’) and Atlantic Quantum’s superconducting fluxonium-based qubit architecture to advance useful quantum computing.
Atlantic Quantum is building fault-tolerant quantum computers using a superconducting fluxonium qubit architecture, which differs from the more conventional superconducting transmon qubit in construction, operation, and underlying physics.
Riverlane is building a quantum error correction (QEC) stack named ‘Deltaflow’. This consists of a set of interconnected technologies designed to help quantum computers detect and correct the huge volume of errors currently preventing them from achieving useful scale.
Through this collaboration, both companies hope to advance unique quantum error correction techniques that accelerate the pathway to quantum advantage.

Telecom veteran joins Quantum Corridor as chief product officer; bolsters Midwest’s quantum vision

Patrick Scully, a seasoned leader in quantum technology and telecommunications, has joined Quantum Corridor, the Midwest startup commercializing a quantum-capable world, as chief product officer With over 30 years of telecommunications and quantum technology experience, Scully will develop Quantum Corridor’s suite of solutions to meet high-performance computing’s burgeoning demand for capacity, security and speed.
Quantum Corridor Inc. was formed by Chicago-area technology innovators to drive tech infrastructure to Indiana and create an information-sharing platform for institutions such as Chicago Quantum Exchange, defense contractors, research hubs and universities. It is a member of the Bloch Tech Hub, a coalition of industry, academic, government and nonprofit stakeholders led by Chicago Quantum Exchange, one of 31 U.S. Regional and Innovation Technology Hubs designated for quantum technologies by the Biden-Harris administration. Quantum Corridor Inc. was named a Chicago Quantum Exchange member in April 2024. Generally restricted to the largest research and education centers and to entities that can use high bandwidth, the Quantum Corridor network will stretch 263 miles and be the nation’s largest quantum computing superhighway. Visit www.quantumcorridor.com for more information.
At Quantum Corridor, Scully will oversee product development and partner relationships, anticipating the demands that generative AI and quantum computing will place on academic, defense and commercial communications networks.

In Other News Rigzone reports “Eni to form quantum computing JV focused on energy systems”

Eni SPA and startup ITQuanta have agreed to form a joint venture (JV) to develop an integrated hardware and software quantum computing system that would improve how energy systems work–from production to market trading, according to Rigzone Editor Jov Onsat in July 16 article.
The end product, a full-stack quantum computing machine, would be “capable of solving complex problems (mathematical optimization, modeling and simulation, artificial intelligence) and initiating specific and significant quantum computing applications to support the energy transition”, Eni said in a statement. The JV is called Eniquantic.
Eni S.p.A., acronym for Ente nazionale idrocarburi, is an Italian multinational energy company headquartered in Rome. It is considered one of the “supermajor” oil companies in the world, with a market capitalization of €50 billion, as of 31 December 2023.
Eni will initially own 94 percent of Eniquantic’s shares, the remaining six percent by ITQuanta. Prof. Massimo Inguscio of ITQuanta has been appointed chair of Eniquantic. Eni’s Dario Pagani has been named chief executive.
