(IQT-NYC) Rob Knegjens, research engineer and tech lead, NetSquid platform, QuTech; has agreed to speak on Panel 3: “Building the Quantum Internet: Hardware and Software Perspectives” at 2:40 pm EST on May 19 at IQT-NYC Online.
Dr. Rob Knegjens is a research engineer within QuTech’s Quantum Internet division. He is the technical lead and co-creator of NetSquid (https://netsquid.org), a versatile simulation platform for designing scalable quantum networks and modular quantum computing architectures. Made publicly available in 2020, NetSquid is applicable to a range of scientific and engineering use cases; for instance, as the primary modelling and simulation tool within the Quantum Internet Alliance (https://quantum-internet.team/) consortium to develop a blueprint for a pan-European quantum internet. Rob graduated with an MSc in theoretical physics from Utrecht University and carried out his PhD research in the field subatomic physics at the Nikhef institute in Amsterdam. In 2016 he joined TNO, which together with the TU Delft forms QuTech, where he leverages his multi-disciplinary background in physics and software to work on projects in the domains of quantum technology and defence.
