Spain’s Sateliot Developing Nanosatellite Constellation with 5G & Quantum Key Information Exchange
(SpaceWatchGlobal) The Spanish satellite telecommunications operator Sateliot is developing a low Earth orbit (LEO) nanosatellite constellation offering 5G coverage and a secure quantum key information exchange system.
The technology is part of the European Quango (QUANtum and 5G cOmmunication) project, Sateliot said, a network of 96 nanosatellites connecting on the 5G standard and introducing QKD (Quantum Key Distribution) technology for super-secure end-to-end encryption.
Sateliot is leading a consortium of a dozen companies and the Spanish Ministry of Defense, as a potential user, to deploy the nanosat constellation, the company said; the project involves an investment of € 176 million and has been submitted to the Spanish Ministry of Industry.
